Summary

Floating wetlands are artificial floating islands planted with wetland vegetation that can be deployed in stormwater ponds and other surface waters to help improve water quality. Floating wetlands absorb excess nutrients, provide habitat for aquatic and terrestrial wildlife, and may reduce the frequency of algal blooms. Information in this article may be useful to municipalities, stormwater professionals, pond owners, pond managers, homeowner associations, and stormwater educators, among others.
