Abstract
This study explores the inaccuracies associated with using the current industrystandard of density and the Murray-Davies formula to determine the tonal value ofprinted spot color halftones; and, the validity of the alternative Colorimetric Tone Valuemethod to measure the tonal value of spot color halftones as proposed by the IDEAllianceSpot Color Halftone Metric Optimization (SCHMO) Working Group.
