Abstract

Wetland development is getting more and more attention from scholars and governments. But this is still a very new topic in China, although China boasts 70 million hectares of wetland, accounting for 10 percent of the world wetland areas. This Thesis Project uses Poyang Wetland as an example of sustainable wetland development strategy, and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of this strategy. The thesis is organized as following: Chapter One refers to the background information of Poyang Wetland; Chapter Two examines the current usage of Poyang Wetland and defines its problems; Chapter Three is the literature review; Chapter Four utilizes development methods derived from the literature review on the design of Poyang Wetland and proposes a sustainable development strategy based on the study; and Chapter Five presents the conclusion and future suggestions for research.
