Who Can Submit?

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in The Robert Frost Review provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. Authors are the initial owners of the copyrights to their works (an exception in the non-academic world to this might exist if the authors have, as a condition of employment, agreed to transfer copyright to their employer).

General Submission Rules

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic). Please note: "publication" in a working-paper series does not constitute prior publication. In addition, by submitting material to The Robert Frost Review, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at The Robert Frost Review. If you have concerns about the submission terms for The Robert Frost Review, please contact the editors.

Formatting Requirements for Initial Submission

The Robert Frost Review accepts scholarly essays and notes (biographical or historical features, memoirs of meeting the poet, pedagogical notes, and other relevant items). We do not accept unsolicited poems or fiction.

All manuscripts must be written in English and adhere to Chicago Manual of Style guidelines. Please observe a 5000 word limit for the main text, and submit work as a Microsoft Word file, with notes and citations at the end. Prepare a separate abstract to be submitted along with the main text. Use the Library of America edition Robert Frost: Collected Poems, Prose, and Plays , edited by R. Poirier and M. Richardson as the reference for all Frost citations. High quality black and white photographs, figures, and other images are welcome.

Please follow the directions provided in the Submission section of this website to ensure that we can provide a prompt review of your work. If your manuscript is accepted for publication, please follow the formatting rules provided in the Style Guide for details.
